FORMER FC Platinum and Young Warriors midfielder Joel Ngodzo has completed his return to Highlanders after penning a one year contract last Saturday.

Ngodzo had attracted Caf Champions League participants’ Dynamos interest together with cash rich How Mine, but has always stated that Highlanders was his first preference.

The midfielder became the most expensive PSL player in 2011 after moving to FC Platinum from Highlanders for a record US$60,000.

He spent the last three seasons at FC Platinum where he became a fringe player last season under Lloyd Mutasa.

Highlanders secretary Andrew Tapela confirmed Ngodzo’s return.

“It is a done deal. He is back at home,” Tapela said.

“We had been negotiating with him for a while now. He expressed interest to come back here last season and he is welcome. He was with us before so he knows the club culture and everything here.”

Ngodzo began training with Highlanders on Monday.

He arrived back at the Bulawayo giants together with Welcome Ndiweni whom he was with at FC Platinum while Valentine Ndaba has also finally completed his move from Shabanie Mine.

Khumbulani Banda joined last week while former Chicken Inn goalkeeper Njabulo Nyoni has also signed a two year deal at Highlanders.

Highlanders left for Inyathi in Matabeleland North on Monday where they will be training at Entokozweni Safaris, which is owned by former national cricket team captain Heath Streak.

Their first action for the season will be against Chapungu in the Cephas Msipa Charity Shield on February 8 at Ascot Stadium followed by Harare City at Barbourfields Stadium on February 16 in the semi-finals of the Bob90 Super Cup.

The Net One Charity Shield, also featuring Dynamos, FC Platinum and City, will then follow before the league begins in the second week of March.
