HIGHLANDERS’ attacking frailties were further exposed on Saturday when they were beaten 2-0 by FC Platinum in a friendly match at Mandava Stadium.

After falling to Dynamos by the same scoreline in the Bob90 Super Cup final six days earlier, Highlanders forwards again failed to come to the party and give coach Kelvin Kaindu hopes for goals in the upcoming season.

This time around Kaindu threw into the fray the on-trial foreign duo of his Zambian compatriot Jerry Simfukwe and Burundian forward Habbas Jim but gave little hope upfront.

“Maybe we will have to sign Jerry or Habbas because we need one more striker," said Kaindu.

"Yes we are not scoring but it is something that we can rectify as the season goes on because we no longer have time to try out hopefuls.

"The season is about to start and we will have to work fast."

Highlanders on Saturday missed Milton Ncube due to injury after the utility man had partnered Charles Sibanda upfront when Highlanders lost to Dynamos.

Even the introduction of Gabriel Nyoni and Ozias Zibande in that match offered little attacking remedy against Dynamos.

FC Platinum match brought to the fore reality that they need to sort out their striking department in a match in which the much hyped winger Kuda Mahachi was again nullified.
