ZIMBABWE’S 2015 African Cup of Nations qualifying campaign has been dealt a huge blow after the Warriors chief striker Knowledge Musona was ruled out for the rest of the season due to an injury.

The Kaizer Chiefs medical team revealed on the club’s website that the Zimbabwean international will be out of action for the rest of the season.

The Warriors talisman who is on loan from German Bundesliga side TSG Hoffeinhem suffered what was initially described as an ankle sprain in the 2-0 win over AS Vita on March 29 in a tie they lost 3-2 on aggregate.

His injury was initially described as mysterious.

Said coach Baxter: “Knowledge’s injury is a little bit of a mystery, because the medics can’t pin down a 100% diagnosis and that is worrying because if you don’t know what you are dealing with it is difficult to treat it.

“Musona had another scan on 22 April as he was not responding to treatment as he should have. It was revealed there was an injury to the bone which didn’t show up on the first MR 1 scan.”

“He has been put in a boot for four to six weeks which means he will miss the rest of the season. Kaizer Chiefs wishes Musona a speedy recovery,” said a member of the medical team.

The 2015 African Cup of Nations second round qualifiers are set to kick off on May 16-18. And Warriors coach Ian Gorowa will now have to prepare for the crucial qualifiers without Musona.
