ZIMBABWE’S top female tennis player, Cara Black, is through to the semi-finals of the women’s doubles at the Aegon Classic in the UK.

Held at Edgbaston in Birmingham, the event is a warm-up tournament for the season’s third grand slam event, Wimbledon, which starts on June 23.

On Friday Cara and Indian playing partner Sania Mirza fought through the quarter finals, beating Darija Jurak of Croatia and Megan Moulton-Levy of the United States 6-1, 5-7, 10-6.

The top seeded Indo-Zimbabwean pair will now face third seeds pair of Raquel Kops-Jones and Abigal Spears of the US for a place in the finals.

The Cara and Sania’s semi-final match is scheduled for mid-day Saturday.
