Warriors crash out of Afcon qualifiers

WARRIORS coach, Ian Gorowa, has failed to submit a technical report on the doomed 2015 Africa Cup of Nations (Afcon) qualification campaign to Zifa’s High Performance Technical Committee.

The development threw the coach’s future into uncertainty after he led the Warriors to their worst ever Afcon qualifying campaign.

Zifa were expecting Gorowa to submit his report by Tuesday but the South Africa-based coach failed to comply with the deadline.

This was viewed in some quarters as tantamount to insubordination which could result in his relationship with Zifa coming to an abrupt end.

The High Performance Technical Committee met Wednesday expecting to review the Gorowa’s report.

Xolisani Gwesela, the Zifa communications manager, confirmed Gorowa had not submitted his report as requested by Zifa.

"We have no report from Gorowa up to now. The matter is being handled by the High Performance Committee," said Gwesela.

Members of the High Performance Technical Committee include chairman John Phiri, Takaendesa Jongwe who is also the Zifa Technical Director, Misheck Chidzambwa, Gibson Homela, Cosmas “Tsano” Zulu, Charles “Raw Meat” Sibanda, Caf referees’ instructor Wilfred Mukuna and junior soccer coach Bheki Nyoni.

In the 13 competitive matches he was in charge of the Warriors, Gorowa managed four wins, six draws and three losses.
