SUPERSPORT United’s new goalkeeper, George Chigova, says that he’s happy he has a good CHAN tournament, citing it as the reason he joined SuperSport United.

The 23-year-old goalkeeper was brought in from Dynamos following an impressive performance during the recent African Nations Championship.

Now, having been officially unveiled by Matsatsantsa, Chigova says that he’s looking forward to the season, and that he’s unfazed by the challenge of trying to usurp SuperSport’s regular ‘keeper, Ronwen Williams.

Speaking to the Siya crew, the shot-stopper said, “Moving to SuperSport is big for me, SuperSport are one of the biggest teams in South Africa so I’m really happy to be here.

“The CHAN tournament was one of the highlights of my career. It’s because of that tournament that I got noticed by SuperSport and I’m really happy that I went to CHAN and did well, it was big for me.”

Meanwhile, when asked about battling it out with Williams for the number one spot, the Zimbabwean said, “In life sometimes you must face new challenges, I’m ready for that and I know that I must work hard.

“Ronwen is a good guy and has given me lots of advice.”

Chigova will wear the number one jersey for SuperSport this coming season.
