STRIKER Knowledge Musona appears to be nearing a deal to stay in South Africa with Kaizer Chiefs after his German club, Hoffenheim, announced the signing of forward Steven Zuber on Thursday.

The 22-year-old joined from Russian champions, CSKA Moscow, on a four year deal, paving the way for Musona to exit the Bundesliga club.

On Wednesday night, Chiefs coach Stuart Baxter said he was confident of securing Musona's signature before the close of the transfer window.

“We think everything is clear and Knowledge is on his way back. It'll give us a few more options, another dimension,” Baxter said in Nelspruit, following Amakhosi's 2-1 win over Mpumalanga Black Aces.

Musona spent last season on loan at Chiefs after failing to secure a regular starting role and now appears to be heading for the exit door.

It is unclear at this stage whether Chiefs are looking to re-sign the Zimbabwe international on a permanent deal and could take him on loan for another spell.
