CARA Black maintained her charge towards a second US Open title after easing into the women’s doubles semi-finals at Flushing Meadows on Tuesday.

Seeded third, Cara and Indian partner Sania Mirza broke little sweat in the quarter finals against Kazakh Zarina Diyas and her Chinese partner Yi-Fan.

The Indo-Zimbabwean pairing took the first set 6-1 in 40 minutes and won a game five minutes into the second set when their rivals decided to retire.

Cara and Sania will now face the unseeded pair of Swiss Martina Hingis and Flavia Pennetta of Italy in the semi-final.

Should they get past the Swiss-Italian duo, Cara and Sania will face either the Russian pair of Ekatarina Makarova and Elena Vesnina who are seeded fourth or Kimiko Date-Krumm of Japan who is playing with Czech Barbora Zahlavova Strycova.
