CHIREDZI FC coach Gishon Ntini has been slapped with a hefty fine of $1,250 by the Premier Soccer League (PSL) Disciplinary Committee after he was found guilty of bringing the game into disrepute.

The outspoken Chiredzi gaffer had been hauled before the league's disciplinary hearing on September 10.

Chiredzi has been given 14 days to advise the PSL of the action they are also taking to discipline Ntini, failing which the fine would be doubled.

Ntini was charged with contravening Order 31 of the Castle Lager PSL Rules and Regulations which states that any player, or official … who commits any act or makes any statement which is considered ungentlemanly, insulting or improper behaviour… would be guilty of misconduct.

The allegations were that Ntini was quoted in local media stating that: “It’s unfortunate that I am witnessing such things just because I am in Harare. These guys have been sitting on the bench since day one and this is shocking.

Ivava vekuPSL ana Mandireva vane vanovatuma. Kana wandakatorera basa (chunga) ndoozvanogona kuita ... this thing is being mishandled. Moses Chunga was here from January with the same technical team that is assisting me here and it’s only myself who was not there.

“If they were to bar me it would have been better but to take the entire technical team which was here before is unfair, it’s unheard of. It means they are protecting someone and obviously that is (Moses) Chunga.

“I don’t have a problem with authorities implementing their policies but they should not twist their policies to favour other people. Obviously it’s the PSL am talking about.”

While Ntini disassociated himself from the written submission done by the Chiredzi  FC secretary general, who had pleaded guilty to the charge and sought leniency from the PSL, several officials who were in attendance when Ntini made the comments, among them match commissioner Brighton Mudzamiri and a Mr Zava confirmed that Ntini had indeed made the comments in an angry outburst.
