Highlanders unveil squad Saturday

HIGHLANDERS and Caps United clash this Sunday at Barbourfields Stadium in the semi-finals of the Bob91 Super Cup.

Defending champions Dynamos have been given a bye into the final which will be staged at Rufaro Stadium on March 7. They beat Highlanders 1-0 in last year’s final.

The fixtures were confirmed by the spokesman for the organisers Charles Mabika earlier this week, although he could not reveal the prize money.

The cup is not sponsored and the prize money comes from gate takings, which is why the organisers opt for the most popular teams in Zimbabwe.

The annual tournament is staged to celebrate President Mugabe’s birthday and the first edition took place when he turned 87. He is now 91.

Meanwhile, Caps are planning a trip to Malawi this weekend for the defence of the Zambezi Cup they won last season while the Premier Soccer League had set March 7 as the provisional date for the start of the 2015 season.

Club officials say they will send a development side to Malawi as they are the defending champions.
