Chapungu 2-1 ZPC Kariba

THE confidence seems to be back at Chapungu.

After a pathetic start to the Castle Lager Premiership season where they failed to score in three matches, they bounced back two weeks back when they beat Highlanders 1-0.

And to show that result was no fluke at all, on Wednesday they stunned highly fancied ZPC in a re-arranged match at Ascot Stadium in Gweru.

It took the Airforce of Zimbabwe team 41 minutes to get the opener when Gift Phiri headed home.

But ZPC were back in it three minutes after the hour mark when Dexter Phiri levelled matters from inside the box.

From there it was cautious play from both sides as they sought to preserve the one point.

But ZPC were hit on a break nine minutes from time after veteran striker Tineyi Chitora bundled home the winner.

Chapungu defended resolutely thwarting Raphael Manuvire and pulling more men into defence for a deserved win.

With the victory, Chapungu are now on eight points after two wins and two draws.
