Chicken Inn takeover top spot

CHICKEN Inn coach Joey Antipas feels it is too early to consider his side as PSL contenders, after assuming top spot on Saturday with a 1-0 win over How Mine.

It was a Bulawayo derby that ended with Chicken Inn overpowering their much fancied opponents who were prominent on the transfer market during of season.

Raphael Kutinyu scored the all-important goal on the half hour mark to separate the two sides.

Making the victory commendable, Chicken Inn finished the match with 10 men after captain Danny Phiri was sent off for a second bookable offence.

“That has been our plan to pick up points as early as possible. Every game is crucial because three points are at stake,” Antipas said.

“We are leading but that does not mean we are champions as yet. We just have to stay high here if we want to achieve something.

“I cannot talk about the league title because it is too early. We hope to improve on our shortcomings and get better by each game.”

Antipas was a league champion with Motor Action in 2010.
