BARBOURFIELDS Stadium (BF) is what Kelvin Kaindu used to call home, both as a player and coach for Highlanders in recent years.

That was until that fateful afternoon in September 2014 when Highlanders moved across town to Hartsfield as BF was undergoing renovations for the Africa Union Sports Council Region Five Games.

Then ZPC Kariba, red hot and under Saul Chaminuka, arrived in town and bamboozled the black and white boys 3-1 and fans turned rowdy.

Kaindu quickly quit and briefly returned home to Zambia.

He resurfaced with five games of the season to go and far away in the Lowveld as technical director of Triangle with a mission to save them from relegation.

He drew twice and won three games and they were safe.

Kaindu has been to BF once this season against Chicken Inn and walked away with a point after a 0-0 draw and lots of love from Highlanders fans.

But this Sunday, he returns to face his former side and emotions are bound to run high considering the two teams’ status on the league table.

Triangle are in second place with 27 points after eight wins, three losses and three draws while Bosso are deep down in ninth place with 19 points after five wins, four draws and five losses.

Last week, Triangle beat ZPC 1-0 at Gibbo while Bosso fell 3-2 to perennial rivals Dynamos, thanks to a blunder by assistant referee Bongani Gadzikwa who denied them a genuine goal and has now been suspended.

But Bosso coach Bongani Mafu says he loves the pressure.

“Premier League coaching is a pressure game and you should feel an urge to go. I love the pressure. That is what drives me,” Mafu said on Thursday in his weekly press briefing.

Kaindu said he was familiar with Barbourfields.

“I have been there for a number of times and I am very familiar with Barbourfields.

“Returning there has got its own emotions and feelings but I am now at Triangle and we are coming there to play football against giants, who had a good show of themselves in their last game (against Dynamos).”

In other matches this weekend, FC Platinum, who have been slowly but surely rising up the table, face Chapungu at Ascot on Saturday.

Norman Mapeza’s side perch at sixth place with 21 points, but will be missing a number of players for the match.

Walter Musona and Wisdom Mutasa are in Slovakia on trials; Donald Ngoma has gone to Young Africans in Tanzania, Gift Bello is suspended for one match while Thabani Kamusoko, Elvis Moyo and Raphael Muduviwa are injured.

Leaders Chicken Inn travel to face Caps United at the National Sports Stadium on Sunday while Buffaloes host rising How Mine at Sakubva.
