CAPS United will use this weekend’s break to condition themselves for the second half of the season with a friendly match against WhaWha at Baghdad Stadium in Kwekwe on Saturday.

PSL action has been suspended to allow full concentration on the Young Warriors who face South Africa in an African Under-23 qualifier at Rufaro Stadium on Sunday.

Caps United goalkeeper Criss Mverechena is the only player from the club in camp with the Under-23s.

Coach Mark Mathe will seize the free weekend to sharpen his side against struggling WhaWha.

Club spokesperson Joyce Kapota said they want to keep their players in action.

“We want to reach out to our Kadoma, Kwekwe and Gweru supporters as well as keep our players active during this short break.

“This is also a chance for the coaches to assess new players and try out different combinations,” Kapota said.

United are reportedly eying the signature of Dynamos forward Simba Nhivi who once played for them.

Nhivi has been struggling with a long term injury and the arrival of Takesure Chinyama, Richard Kawondera and Roderick Mutuma in the striking order complicated his first team chances.

Caps have recently been on the rise and will face Harare City in their next league game.
