ZIMBABWEAN international, Silas Songani, has extended his contract with top-flight Danish side, Sønderjyske, to 2019, the club confirmed at the weekend.

The 26-year-old striker joined Sønderjyske from Harare City in 2014, having been the named the second best player in the local premiership the previous season.

Officials at Sønderjyske said the forward has made huge progress since and has now been rewarded with a 4-year contract extension.

Sporting director Hans Jørgen Haysen told the club’s website that he sees Songani as a player for the future.

“Silas Songani since its arrival in the team has taken important steps, and he is gradually being implemented in our style of play,” he said.

“Therefore, I am convinced that in the coming period will see him reach its full potential, and I am therefore very pleased that we got the new agreement in place.”

Last season Songani scored four goals and set up another three.

He is yet to find the back of the net this term, having largely been used as a substitute and only played 46 minutes in the Alka Super League.

Sønderjyske are ninth in the 12-team league, with one win and two losses from the three games played so far.
