Highlanders 1-0 Flame Lily

IT was not a big win, but one that Highlanders simply had to get.

Thanks to Simon Munawa's 53rd minute, Highlanders finally came right after a rocky five weeks with a crucial win over Flame Lily at Barbourfields on Thursday.

Interim coach Amin Soma-Phiri is sleeping easy, at least for now.

“We went into the match with a positive mind and we got three points,” he said.

“That is good for us although it was not quite a good match, we created a few chances but at least the big one we got in the second half we scored.”

Soma-Phiri, a Bosso stalwart, replaced Bongani Mafu two weeks ago, but lost his opening match 1-0 to Harare City in the capital last Saturday.

After the win, Bosso remained in 10th position but with 28 points, two behind Hwange, who lost 1-0 to Caps United on Wednesday.

At Sakubva, Buffaloes needed an 88th minute penalty from Clive Kawinga to subdue Dongo Sawmill.
