FORMER Njube Sundowns and Mbabane Swallows defender Talenta Maphosa is on the verge of joining Premier Soccer League giants Dynamos.

Maphosa, according to reports from Swaziland, has been cleared by his former club after five years playing for them after indicating he wanted to be reunited with his family in Zimbabwe.

Now he has to impress new coach Jorge Silva ahead of the new season and the closure of the transfer window on March 31.

The defender, who can also play as anchorman, won the Independence Trophy with Njube Sundowns in 2008 when they were under Philani 'Beefy' Ncube, now the head coach at newly promoted Bulawayo City.

Dynamos have brought in goalkeeper Ashley Rayners and defender Tichaona Chipunza from Triangle, defensive midfielder Dominic Mukandi from Caps United and winger Valentine Ndaba from bitter rivals Highlanders.

The former league champions have lost creative midfielder Ronald Chitiyo and right-back Blessing Moyo to Harare City while Ocean Mushure has been linked to PSL champions Chicken Inn.

Dynamos chairman Keni Mubaiwa says they are on the lookout for a top notch striker to reinforce their attack.

Veteran striker Takesure Chinyama is slowing down due to age and that leaves the goal-scoring duties to Rodreck Mutuma.
