THE Warriors returned Thursday from Rwanda where they were eliminated in the group stages of the ongoing 2016 African Nations Championship (CHAN) finals.

Zimbabwe lost their opening two group games to Zambia and Mali before drawing their final game against Uganda in midweek.

Wednesday evening’s game at Umuganda Stadium ended in a 1-1 draw as both sides were eliminated from the tournament.

Edrisa Lubega scored a late header from a Dennis Awany cross in the 93rd minute to equalize for Uganda who had struggled in front of goal all evening.

Eventual man-of-the-match William Manondo had earlier given Zimbabwe the lead three minutes into the second half when he cut into the box to send a great shot past Ugandan goalkeeper James Alitho.

Zambia and Mali qualified from the Rubavu-based group while Uganda and Zimbabwe were eliminated from the biennial tournament. The Cranes have never made it to the last eight in their three appearance.
