Highlanders edge Chapungu to climb into third position

BULAWAYO giants Highlanders posted a crucial victory over a gritty Chapungu, edging them 1-0 in a Castle Lager Premership tie at Barbourfields Stadium on Sunday.

Chief striker, Knox Mtizwa, was the hero after converting a penalty nine minutes into the second half.

Chapungu captain, Colleen Kwaramba, struggled to keep pace and he had to use his hands in a bid to stop the ball from Rahman Kutsanzira and the referee pointed to the spot. Mtizwa stepped up to take responsibility sending the goalkeeper the wrong way.

Chapungu had to finish the match with 10 man following the sending off of their captain, Kwaramba. Much as they tried to come back into the game, the Highlanders defence remained resolute.

The win lifted Highlanders into third position on the log with 10 points.
