Given a rest ... Warriors and Sundowns star, Khama Billiat

WARRIORS coach Kalisto Pasuwa has named the squad that will take on Guinea in the 2017 African Cup of Nations qualifier on September 3 with the trio of Khama Billiat, Hardlife Zvirekwi and Elisha Muroiwa being the only absentees from the team that defeated Malawi to secure qualification to Gabon.

With the match now a dead rubber after Zimbabwe qualified for the biennial soccer show case with a game to spare, Pasuwa decided to rest Billiat. The Mamelodi Sundowns star has been heavily involved in the African Champions League for his club while Zvirekwi is suspended for picking yellow cards in the previous match.

Centre back Muroiwa is side lined with an injury picked from the Cosafa tournament in Namibia in May.

“With Khama Billiat, we have decided to let him rest because he has been busy with his club’s African safari commitments,” Pasuwa told the ZIFA website.

“This match is still important to the team because we are going to use it as a yardstick to measure our progress as a unit and our preparedness for the Gabon AFCON finals,” added Pasuwa.

The Warriors gaffer has also roped in Dynamos inform utility player, Godknows Murwira, and Triangle goalkeeper, Nelson Chadya, the only new faces in the squad.

China-based Nyasha Mushekwi, who missed the match against the Flames of Malawi in June, has been recalled to the team.
