ZIFA have secured a high profile international friendly match for the Warriors against defending African champions Ivory Coast on Boxing Day in Abidjan.

Both teams will be using the match as a dress rehearsal for the 2017 African Cup of Nations finals to be held in Gabon in January.

The game presents a good opportunity for the Warriors to rub shoulders with some of the best players in the game which will also give them confidence ahead of the biennial soccer showcase.

Zifa president Philip Chiyangwa, told reporters at a press conference in Harare on Thursday that the Elephants would host the Warriors on December 26.

“The Warriors will play against Ivory Coast in a friendly match in Abidjan on Boxing Day.

“We agreed to the date because it will be a December holiday and we will have all our players in the country.

“The coach will have an opportunity to choose all his best players,” said Chiyangwa.

Zifa has been struggling to engage a team for an international friendly ahead of the Gabon tournament.

Jamaica is one of the countries which have expressed interest to play the Warriors.
