CAPS United president Farai Jere moved swiftly Wednesday to avert a potential strike by his players ahead of the decisive clash against Ngezi Platinum at the weekend.

United players had reportedly threatened to down tools over outstanding salaries and allowances.

They wanted to be addressed by the club owner. And the Harare businessman pitched up at the club's training ground-the National Sports Stadium where he assured them they would get their dues.

Jere appealed to the players to remain focused ahead of their remaining two matches. He also revealed that his team would participate in the Caf African Champions League if they win the league title.

Speaking to reporters after wards, Jere said his players were more than motivated to win the league title.

“These guys are more than motivated as you can see. They don’t need anyone to motivate them. If we win the championship, we will definitely be participating in the African Champions League,” he said.

“We have the material and need maybe one or two players. We just pray that we don’t lose any of our players to South Africa or foreign clubs.

“We have got the right mixture of players, age, experience, physical stature. Everything is there. So, we have got everything to participate.”

United lead the table with 57 points, two ahead of close challengers FC Platinum. After the weekend clash against Ngezi Platinum, they wind up their campaign with a trip to Chapungu.

They can even win the championship at the weekend if they win against Ngezi Platinum and FC Platinum fail to beat Highlanders in their meeting at Mandava.
