HIGHLANDERS coach Erol Akbay, is already looking forward to next season after their league title hopes were banished on Sunday following a 3-0 defeat away at FC Platinum.

The Bulawayo giants arrived at Mandava Stadium on Sunday, with faint chances of ending a 10-year wait for the league crown but, the loss officially booted them out of the race, as they are now seven points’ adrift leaders Caps United.

They were praying for Caps United to lose to Ngezi Platinum and for them to beat FC Platinum, to entertain last game turnaround of events for them to be crowned champions.

But after witnessing his side fall down to FC Platinum, Akbay has already set sights for a better showing next season.

“Our season is over now and we wait to see what happens next season. We will see what kind of players we will have next season and we can add some good ones so that we can win the league title,” Akbay said.

“At the moment I cannot say who we will be having next season but, will add some good players to win this. We had the chance to be champions this season but, that did not happen. FC Platinum scored three goals and ended our hopes but we will come back much better next year.”

Highlanders are guaranteed to finish the season on fourth position on the log even if they lose to Hwange in their final game on Saturday.
