BULAWAYO giants Highlanders got a reprieve on Monday as the Premier Soccer League (PSL) Disciplinary Committee awarded them a point after ruling that their abandoned match against FC Platinum due to crowd trouble stand at 1-1.

The match between the two sides was abandoned after violence ensued with the match at Mandava Stadium tied at 1-1. The fans protested after FC Platinum were awarded a penalty in the last minute while Bosso was leading.

The result saw Bosso jumping to sixth position on the league table with 21 points while FC Platinum, who were also awarded one point, moved to fifth position with the same number of points.

In a statement on Monday the PSL said: "The Disciplinary Committee found Highlanders not guilty of causing the abandonment of their match against FC Platinum.

They were, however, found guilty of throwing missiles on the pitch and were fined the sum of $2000, $500 of which has been suspended for the rest of the season on condition the club is not convicted of a similar offence.”

The fine of $1500 together with the costs of hearing shall be paid by the 31st of July 2017. Further, the Disciplinary Committee ruled that the score line stands at 1-1.

This came after Dynamos were awarded three points on a 3-0 score-line after Highlanders were found guilty for causing the abandonment of the league match between the two giants at Barbourfields Stadium.

Highlanders were also slapped with a $4000 fine.
