SOUTH Africa: AmaZulu winger Ovidy Karuru has confirmed he is contracted to the club for another year but refused to rule out a move if better financial opportunities arise.

Karuru is in demand after top-scoring at the Cosafa Castle Cup with six goals as he captained Zimbabwe to regional honours in the North West Province last weekend.

The former Kaizer Chiefs midfielder, who joined Usuthu in February, is in contract extension talks with the Premiership returnees but appears to be keeping his options open.

"For now I’m still an AmaZulu player, but you never know what will happen in football," he says. "Maybe better offers will come. I’m a breadwinner at home, so I will take the best offer on the table.

"But like I said, I still have one more year with AmaZulu and we are still negotiating [for a long-term deal]. Maybe I will get two or three years, it depends on negotiations."

Meanwhile, the 28-year-old hopes he can replicate his international form in the new domestic season.

"I believe in myself more than I believe in others. I can feel it that I still have a lot to offer in terms of playing football," he adds.

Bidvest Wits to make decision on Knox Mutizwa as interest in the Zimbabwe striker grows

Bidvest Wits forward Knox Mutizwa has a growing list of prospective clubs chasing him following the end of his productive loan spell at Golden Arrows.

Mutizwa scored five goals with Abafana Bes’thende during the second half of the 2016/17 PSL campaign and his value has continued to rise after being named the Player of the Tournament at the recently-concluded COSAFA Castle Cup.

The forward, though, remains contracted to Wits, who must now make a call on the player’s future as enquiries continue to flow in.

Clever Boys officials have confirmed Golden Arrows are keen on retaining the 23-year-old’s services for the new season, although the Students have had enquiries from a number of other clubs, too.

Mutizwa is not in pre-season with Wits as of yet, having been given an extended break after playing at the Castle Cup, which ended on Sunday with Zimbabwe as champions.
