CAPS United striker John Zhuwawo scored the only goal that made the difference to help the champions see off a battling Hwange under the simmering heat of the Colliery on Thursday.

It is their second successive win after overcoming bitter Harare rivals Dynamos last week on Sunday. Crucially the victory over the coal miners helped them push their case for a top four finish.

Faced with the task of having to clear their back log fixtures, the Green Machine are getting up the ladder by each game, with their latest win catapulting them to the sixth place on the league table.

A 77th minute goal by Zhuwawo was all they needed to sew up the contest.

Caps struggled to cope with the souring temperatures at the Colliery, but they still got the job done. The hosts were confidently comfortable but failed to convert their chances.

With a little bit of luck, Hwange could have led in the opening stanza but were denied by the woodwork. Zhuwawo described the win as a collective effort.

"It was a great team spirit, a collective effort. Everyone wanted to win and i am happy to contribute to the teams cause. We now look forward to our next match," he said.
