HARARE: FC Platinum were crowned 2017 Zimbabwe Castle Lager Premier Soccer (ZPSL) champions Saturday after beating Chapungu 2-0 at Ascot in Gweru.

The Norman Mapeza-coached platinum boys got their goals through Rodwell Chinyengetere and Ali Sadiki in the first half.

Elsewhere, Harare giants, Lloyd Mutasa coached Dynamos FC beat 1-0 Chicken Inn FC and settled for the 2nd position while fellow title contenders Ngezi Platinum FC ended the season in 3rd position after playing out a goalless draw with Triangle FC.

In other matches, Harare City FC were relegated to the unfashionable Division One league on the final day of the PSL season despite beating How Mine FC 1–0.

Wins for Bulawayo City FC and Shabanie Mine FC meant that the Sunshine Boys could not save themselves to overhaul other teams’ superior points.

Also relegated were Hwange FC after they lost 2-0 at home to Sunday Chidzambwa-coached ZPC Kariba

The Colliery Boys joined already relegated Tsholotsho FC and Bantu Rovers FC in Division One.

However, spirited Bulawayo City FC made a last day escape from relegation with a resounding 5-nil win over already relegated Bantu Rovers.

Meanwhile, a dead rubber between Bulawayo giants Highlanders FC and Caps United FC ended in a one-all draw.
